Fairytale Remix Performances

  • PS 7

The Arts & Literacy Program at PS.7 made their own remix version of the Chinese fairytale, "Lon Po Po". "Lon Po Po" means "Grandmother Wolf" in Chinese, and the story is similar to the fairytale of "Little Red Riding Hood". Through our remixed version, students learned how to be resourceful and use critical thinking skills. In addition, they learned not to be afraid to speak up and to use their voice to ask questions about things that might be unfamiliar to them. Themes that students were able to uncover throughout the fairytale story were to not talk or take anything from strangers, listen to your guardians, and looks can be deceiving. "Lon Po Po" is a reflection of our current world and through the characters and dialogue, demonstrates equity and inclusivity.

  • PS 92

“Rama and the Demon King” Banished by his jealous stepmother, the good and brave Prince Rama has lived in the forest for 14 years, along with his beautiful wife Sita and his loyal brother Lakshaman. Rama has triumphed over the demons that dwell there and the three live a simple, peaceful life among the forest animals. But it is not to last, for the ten-headed King of the Demons vows to take revenge. Students will learn about production, as well as theater doing storytelling.
