Fairytale Remix Performances

  • PS 377

PS 377 created an original fairytale that turns many stories you may know on its head! Students and teachers created this new tale to show us all that understanding, friendship, family and love are the guiding principals in life. The students learned about how to create strong dialogue, memorable characters and using their bodies to convey stories in the dance and musical breaks in the piece. Let us know if you can figure out some of the stories we remixed!

  • PS 123

At Ps123, we have created a new fairytale. We chose a moral that is prevalent in today's society and gave it a fairytale twist. Butterflies and moths, both equally beautiful creatures, all fighting just because of the color of their wings! Our kids worked on sets, props, storyboards, narration, stage direction and movement to create a work, we’re so proud to present, The Flying Creatures. We hope you enjoy!

  • PS 116

The Arts & Literacy Program at P.S. 116 created their own fairytale! Our fairytale story is about a magical cursed tree. This magical tree turns any villagers in the kingdom into animals if they touch the tree. In our fairytale you will see how children in the kingdom come together to reverse the curse that was placed upon the kingdom many moons ago. In writing our own fairytale, students learned how to brainstorm, use their imagination and work collectively to create a story that included music, dance, theatre and character work. Students learned how important it is to be aware of your surroundings, and why sometimes, parents and guardians can know best. Enjoy!
