PS 116 Multimedia arts piece

After weeks of research, outlining and explorative movement session, students and staff began to create pieces and record them for the project. These works were then blended together to create a virtual multimedia piece that showcased the students’ work and their new knowledge about the history of activists using their voices to create change and how young people might use their own voices to uplift their communities and shape the future.

Spring Into Art Therapy—This year our AT Team created a special day of therapeutic arts activities to support the local PS 116/Bushwick area community. Families and students were encouraged to try many of the different stations that provided small group arts projects which promoted self-care, self-awareness, and community healing. The event also featured a panel of licensed art therapists discussing mental health, the current state of mental health in our communities and how art therapy and other mental health practices can be implemented in our everyday lives. This event also was live streamed on our program webpage for those that could not attend in-person.
